Broken Wings

Go to content

The ministry vision is threefold:

1. To reconcile broken people to God
2. To reunite healed people with their families
3. To return restored people to society

Meeting people at their point of need:

- To come along side broken people, and walk a road of recovery with them.
- To hold out a loving and helping hand to the addict, destitute and homeless.

Working with:

- Broken lives - through alcohol, drugs or debt - to see them healed
- Broken families - dysfunctional - to see them restored
- Broken marriages - irreconcilable differences - to see reconciliation
- Broken relationships - with God or people
- Broken homes - for whatever reason

Reconciling people to God

2nd Cor. 5:17-20

The following is the list of multi-cultural, interdenominational, Christian based ministries through which Broken Wings Ministry is involved physically, spiritually, materially and financially.

Street Ministry

This is a ministry to the homeless and destitute people. Not all these people are alcoholics or drug addicts. Some are 'down on their luck' and are in need of shelter, food, clothing and medication. Other than providing for their physical needs, we provide them with loving care and the Gospel of Jesus Christ, at weekly small group meetings.

Enoch's Walk

Enoch's Walk is a ministry to the destitute, as well as the homeless alcoholic and drug addict. This ministry has been run for over 35 years on a farm on the Hennops River, and do not charge fees to those in need. They provide a home for up to 9 months, good food and the Gospel of Jesus Christ to 60 needy people. On site we also run a detox facility. Broken Wings has complete spiritual oversight at Enoch's Walk.

House of Compassion

House of Compassion is run as a Christian facility where we house up to 18 recovering addicts. This facility has been running for 28 yrs. Other than help them with their recovery through the Biblically based 12-step program, we are also instrumental in helping them find work and reuniting them with their families. Today, in association with Broken Wings, it is being run by a recovered alcoholic Barney and his wife Cathy. This facility has 4 bedrooms and one bathroom, for Barney's family of 5, plus the 18 addicts.

Drug free

Through Drug free, we run a weekly support group for the families of addicts, as well as a separate group, which caters for the addicts themselves. We deal holistically with addictions and co-dependency. We are also involved in drug education at schools.
